ANSWERED: Avatars

I noticed that you must have .gif disabled or something. My beautiful animated avvy doesn't work! Grrrrrrr!
What's up with that?
Do I have to have it hosted, or does your "upload" onto the website automatically convert it to .jpeg/.bmp... or what?
EDIT: It must convert it. Cause when I had it hosted, it is/was fine. *Thank you, ImageShack!* May I suggest that you put a warning on there? Actually, it may be irrelevant, many people probably won't upload .gifs.

ANOTHER THING!
Mebbe post some rules? You know, the normal, common forum rules, that keep everybody sane.
When this place gets bigger *hopefully* it'll be a good thing.
Suggestions:
No:
Double Posting
Racial Slurs
Flaming
.....
etc.

Wow -- cool avatar! (I think I may have nightmares about it coming after me though!) Can you help me animate mine? Wait, speaking of nightmares, that might not be such a good idea on second thought.  :o

Making them, eh? There are plenty of good tutorials, and they're quit fun to have. However, they are very time consuming to actually make. Which is why I think it's better to get one online. Sooooo, for all my avatar needs, animated or not, I go to DeviantArt.com. They have some of the most creative and beautiful avvys ever. But, if you really want to make one, I suggest reading:
http://www.htmlgoodies.com/tutorials/web_graphics/article.php/3479881
This: *they're complicated, you've been warned*
http://members.aol.com/royalef/gifmake.htm
http://www.webreference.com/dev/gifanim/

Or if those are a little to complicated, the easier program *which I use* is this:
Microsoft .Gif Animator
http://www.jhepple.com/gif_animator.htm

For galleries of .gifs, just google it.
The biggest database that I've found is http://www.gifninja.com/
But I don't look up .gifs a whole lot. I have one or two that I use on every forum, they're my favorites.
And remember... You probably want to change a cheesy .gif often, as they can get very, VERY annoying.

Most of these are already in the registration agreement people must agree to when signing up.  Since each registration is manually reviewed and approved or denied, I think we're okay for now.  Thanks for the suggestion.

I don't know Naked John... I looked very closely at your avatar, and there doesn't seem to be anything to animate.    ;)

Well if you'd finally come and jump naked with me, you'd see that you're quite wrong.  :o

How many people really read the registration. I mean, seriously. How many people?
The count is bound to be quite low.

Hmmmmm.... It worked for me.  Perhaps he just had a corrupted file or had a bad upload.
