Forum has been upgraded

The forum software has been upgraded and although it's look and feel is not yet integrated with the rest of the web site, the bug fixes and performance improvements are significant. Worth noting are the following:

• FIXED: Posting a new topic produced a long wait and eventually an error stating "Database went away". This left users confused as to whether their post succeeded and they would often post again resulting in duplicates. It was an email thing. Users get notified of new topics and our number of users grew so large that our email operation timed-out trying to get them all sent. The new forum uses a mail queue.
  
• The gallery was previously embedded within the forum pages but each page load produced voluminous errors which quickly made the error log VERY large and slowed down the rest of the forum. The larger the log grew, the slower things got. Under the new forum, the gallery is broken out and the error log is automatically pruned every X days to prevent this from happening again.
  
• Known limitation(s): The "Gallery Image" button below each post that lets the user embed an image from the gallery into their post is not functioning. We are waiting on an upgrade to the plugin that integrates our forum and gallery

I forgot to mention you now have the ability to add your playa name to your profile! It will appear under your picture when you post a topic or reply!

To add your playa name, click the "Profile" link in the menu near the top of this page. On the next page, click "Forum Profile", scroll to the bottom and enter your name. Simple.
