Not getting email notification

I was used to receiving an email notification whenever people posted something, but that seems to have stopped despite a number of new posts.

I checked my notification profile and nothing seems to have changed.

Trina reports the same problem.

Any ideas?

None.  It's working for me AFAIK.

Go to the message board for which you're not getting email notifications.  Above the topic list are some buttons.

    * Notify
    * Post new poll
    * New Topic
Click the NOTIFY button and see if it prompts you to ENABLE or to DISABLE notifications.

Hmmm... okay.  We've been using the PHP mail function to send notifications to our user base.  With 107 members now, perhaps the script is taking too long to execute so only SOME of the notifications are sent while the remainder are aborted.  For obvious reasons, web hosts limit how long a script can run.  If it goes beyond a preset time limit, the script is killed automatically by the hosting environment.

I've reconfigured our email notifications to now use an email account and our mail server.  Let's see how that works out.  Be sure that noreply AT burningsky DOT org is not filtered or blacklisted by your email client or account.

Yep, I got the email notification bump this time. I also hit the 'notify' button on the board that I was missing and the notify function seemed to be enabled, so I disabled and re-enabled.

The postings I was missing was all the chatter about the night suits, if that helps.

I don't typically use the individual boards when I check in with the forum - I just go to the bottom of the board list and click where it says 'Show all recent posts.'

Also I notice that, when the email notification is working, I'm notified of the first posting from a conversation but not subsequent postings until I go to the forum and read the postings. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Check your profile notifications settings  Make sure "Receive reply notification only for the first unread reply." is not checked.

The "fix" didn't actually work.  I switched the setting back to PHP.  Since I'm at work, I can't spend time on it right now.  I'll follow up later and unfortunately I'm rebuilding my PC at home so I'm mostly offline this week.

Sending notifications using our mail server instead of PHP is now working.

The box you mentioned is not checked, but that seems to be the rule it's following - as if it were checked. Hmmmm.

No worries. It' s not a big deal, especially in the midst of rebuilding a computer!

I think this issue is resolved.  Anyone still have issues with getting email notifications from our forum?

FYI:

The hosting provider recently moved our site to another physical server and although they claim nothing changed, I'm learning some DNS records got munged.  As a result, email notifications haven't been going since Feb 4th.

This has now been fixed and tested.

Yep, I noticed that I haven't been getting the email notification for the new posts. Thanks for the fix. FYI, this post was not emailed to me either... ?

Probably cause it's so old..
